Welcome to a beautiful city set under Pikes Peak which has been the site of inspirations past and present. Katherine Lee Bates wrote "America the Beautiful" while staying in a hotel downtown at Pikes Peak and Tejon Street. Helen Hunt Jackson envisioned her stay at Colorado Springs with the Indian conflict and racial barriers in her novel, Ramona, while Tesla, the true pioneer in electricity called Colorado Springs his home until he blew out the the city's lights during an electrical experiment.

It has been the home of copper, silver, and gold kings, most notably, Spencer Penrose of the Broadmoor and Myron Stratton of the Stratton Home. Both were philanthropists whose good fortunes are still shared and enjoyed by the people of the city to this day. It was and continues to be the home of many generals, particularly, General Palmer (Civil War) who is the city's founder and whose foresight in city planning is unrivaled to this day. It has seen Zebulon Pike, the Younger Brothers, Kit Carson, the Ute, Kiowa, and Arapahoe. More recently, Colorado Springs was the hometown of the horror king, Lon Chaney, of whom a local theatre is named. We have seen many of the city's finest go on to become authors, screenplay writers, actors, musicians, dancers, pilots, engineers, doctors, lawyers and entrepreneurs. It is the home of our future with the Air Force Academy. It is also home of the military institutions of Ft. Carson, Schriever Air Force Base, and Peterson Field. Hopefully, it will become your home too.
